Fernando Vicario is Chief Executive Officer of Merrill Lynch International and Head of Bank of America N.A., London Branch. He also serves as Bank of America’s UK Country Executive.
From 2020 to 2025, Fernando was Chief Executive Officer of Bank of America’s lead European banking entity, Bank of America Europe DAC, and Country Executive for Ireland.
Previously, Fernando served as Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for the European Union and Head of Corporate Banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He has worked at Bank of America for over 30 years, holding a number of senior leadership roles across the firm, including Head of EMEA and Latin America Corporate Banking and Co-Head of EMEA Debt Capital Markets and Corporate Banking.
Fernando sits on Bank of America’s International Management Committee. He is Co-Chair of the firm’s EMEA Opportunity & Inclusion Council and Co-Lead of the EMEA Sustainability Strategic Council. He is also a strong advocate for the bank’s social investment and philanthropic initiatives.
Externally, Fernando is a member of the Board of UK Finance and the Leadership Council of TheCityUK. He has previously served on the Boards of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland and Financial Services Ireland. He also served on the Board of the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland and was Chair of the Federation of International Banks in Ireland.
A native of Pforzheim, Germany, and a Spanish national, Fernando obtained a degree in Banking and Finance from the Hochschule für Bankwirtschaft/Bankakademie in Germany.
