Ritu Whig is a Vice President at Goldman Sachs within the Global Banking and Markets Division in New York. Ritu leads end-to end negotiations of complex trading and regulatory capital markets documentation that underpin the firm’s client relationships. She plays a critical part in structuring, negotiating and executing complex legal documentation that align with regulatory requirements, internal risk frameworks and market best practice while supporting the firm’s trading and financing strategies. She oversees and manages a significant volume of negotiations for front-office trading desks ensuring timely completion of complex transactions under tight deadlines, works very closely with the business to drive new business pipeline, acts as a key point of contact for clients during negotiations and regularly partners with trading, risk, treasury, credit and legal to deliver balanced outcomes that align commercial, legal and regulatory goals. She also leads strategic initiatives to improve efficiencies, collaborates with cross-functional teams and contributes to team development through training, knowledge sharing, and leadership in complex negotiations. She is recognized for a detail-oriented and collaborative negotiation style, strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate the complexities of an evolving regulatory and market landscape. Previously, Ritu has held roles in Credit Suisse, NatWest Markets and has also worked in Goldman Sachs in India and London.
Ritu holds Juris Doctor (JD) from Symbiosis Law College, Pune, India (with distinction) and Masters in Corporate & Commercial Laws (LL.M) from London School of Economics, London, UK. She is admitted to the bar in India.
Ritu is an active member of WIFM and currently serves as a facilitator of WIFM wolfpack which is a carefully selected peer network of high powered professional women in financial markets who connect, elevate and advance each other through coaching and mentorship. She is also involved as a coach for the “Girls on the run” program which aims to help girls recognize their potential, manage emotions, embrace differences and stand up for themselves. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aider at Goldman Sachs which focuses on providing Goldman Sachs colleagues with education tools to approach their health and wellbeing in a holistic way.
