Women in Financial Markets is honored to announce the newest addition to our Ambassadors. We are thrilled to welcome Samantha Obre, Recruiter, MarketAxess.
Welcome Samantha!
Samantha is MarketAxess’ first and sole non-technical Recruiter. Having joined the newly created global inhouse recruiting function at the fixed income e-trading industry-leader, she is proud to have had a hand in scaling the organization and facilitating career growth for her peers. Within MarketAxess, Samantha is actively involved with the firm’s employee resource groups for women and peers at MarketAxess, as well as a founding member of MarketAxess’ ERG for Hispanic/LatinX employees and their allies.
As a proud Australian based in New York for the past decade, Samantha is passionate about women’s advocacy and providing guidance to young professionals establishing their careers in corporate America and society at large. She currently serves as a mentor within the non-profit Women’s Bond Club as well as Corporate Membership Faciliator liaison.
Samantha’s diverse 8-year career has revolved around her strong belief that one never stops learning. In 2018, after receiving the Women Take Tech scholarship, she completed a full-stack web development course through Flatiron School where she built five apps using Ruby and JavaScript. She is also a trained Firefighter 1 for Saltaire Volunteer Fire Company where she serves on two committees: Events and Membership. Additionally, Samantha volunteers for New York Cares and GallopNYC. The latter of which being a non-profit that provides therapeutic horsemanship to help riders living with disabilities. Before becoming a dog parent of her own, Samantha was an active foster of senior dogs through 501c3 Social Tees Animal Rescue.
Samantha holds a Bachelor of Communications and Media, majoring in Journalism from the University of Notre Dame Australia.
